Ruth Birner-Gruenberger (born 1973 in Graz, Austria) studied chemistry at the Graz University of Technology, Austria, and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia. In 2002 she received her PhD under the supervision of Prof. G. Daum (Graz/Austria), followed by postdoctoral work with Prof. A. Hermetter (Graz/Austria).
In 2007 she established the Proteomics Core Facility at the Center of Medical Research at the Medical University of Graz. Since 2011 she is Associate Professor at the Institute of Pathology, Medical University of Graz, where she leads the functional proteomics research group, and scientific director of the Proteomics Core Facility at the Center of Medical Research. Her research interests encompass proteomics, lipid metabolism and biocatalysis.
Within ACIB she functions as a key researcher and head of the functional proteomics core facility.
