acib is known as far as China
15 babies (including twins) within two years – biotechnology is a science of life which could be seen especially at acib and it‘s employees. In it‘s first two years acib grew to an important international player in industrial biotechnology. More than 150 scientists, technicians and other employees from 19 nationalities work on 28 scientific projects, comprising 39 fields of interest; and more are on the way. 59 % of the employees are female, the average age is 32 years.
acib became a conglomerate of knowledge in industrial biotechnology. It it started with combination of the expertise of 7 universities and 25 industrial partners. In 2011 TU Delft, Biokatalyse 2021 (Hamburg), University of Salzburg and University of Berkeley joined the acib-network as associated partners or within cooperations. The University of Bielfeld will follow this year; and perhaps more.
acib is financed by official funding and by financial contributions of it‘s industrial partners in the governmental funded “K-field”. Lastly two EU-projects were added to acib portfolio in the non-funded scientific area: Bionexgen and Kyrobio with a total volume of 2 mio Euro.
Aside of the financial data acib made it‘s way in the scientific world. acib scientists held 48 lectures in 21 nations and presented 85 posters at conferences and meetings. The scientific output resulted in 15 innovations and 3 patents. Finally acib made it‘s way in the media throughout the world as far as Saudi Arabia (Arabs Today) or China (xinhuanet) with several success-stories.
